From humble beginnings, the co-owners of The Humble Gift Co (THGC) started out on esty but knew the next step in their journey was to launch a Shopify store. Tea & Chantelle runs THCG together, a small family business specialising in personalised gifts and home decor, business and event signage. However, they do so much more than they give themselves credit for, creating unique products for every stage of your life & every special event or occasion that happens throughout the year. Every piece that leaves their Humble HQ has been created with love and care.

The Goal

They approached us needing help starting & scaling their own online Shopify store, with their primary objective being to both earn a full-time income through THGC. Throughout the first few months, we established they needed to design, launch & personally hand-craft new products, curate a customer community, build their email list, grow their social followings, optimise their website, provide customer service and support their families all at the same time. Solution

We started by ensuring the basic fundamentals of a successful e-commerce business were in place, we called this ‘Phase One’. This meant ensuring the website user experience flowed and provided the right information, a detailed about us page, multiple payment options, an enticing first customer discount with a customised abandon cart email, clear USP’s and detailed product descriptions - all simple things that are commonly missed.

Initially, THGC started with Google Ads, whilst they saw success over the first Christmas period, the demand for their items on Google were low due to the nature of the products and the customer we were trying to appeal to. With this, we shifted to a Meta ads strategy, where we could target our ideal customer directly using their engaging & aesthetic product imagery.

This was a HUGE success! 

Due to the handmade nature of their products, THCG is not a business than can move to a large-scale operation overnight. At the beginning it was just the two of them, creating every single product that went out the door by hand in their shed. We needed to grow at a sustainable rate that worked for them. We came up with a plan, firstly ensuring there was enough margin on their products to account for the work taken to create them and sell them through paid advertising. After this it was easy to identify which items were going to make them the most profit for the smallest amount of time. 

In June of 2023 they launched their iconic name badges, the line of products that was going to take their business to the next level. This new and unique approach to name badges was a gigantic success - they had discovered their first viral product - and the best part about it, their Meta CPA was $4. 

We then slowly increased their meta budgets, whilst maintaining an ultra-low CPA. They were then able to hire their first two employees which meant we could continue to increase the orders they were able to make in a day significantly. 

The advertising expanded from there, with multiple different campaigns targeting different types of professions who wore name badges. To now also have a successful wedding campaign that generates high AOV orders for as little as $10 per order. Whilst still advertising their seasonal items at various points of the year.

Outcome

The ladies at THCG are very busy every day, sending out hundreds of orders to their customers, and while they are still in the early stages of their business the foundations they’ve laid have set them up for continued success. 

Their ALL-TIME meta performance has achieved a 753% return on ad spend and acquired each customer for an average of $6. 

Their online store revenue grew 549% in the last 12 months and has seen consistent and stable growth over the entire time we have been working together.

They have acquired over 2500+ new customers via Meta ads and their organic strategy in the last 12 months, and this number will continue to grow as we expand and scale the ad budgets and as their operations are able to grow.
